How well can a real city planner play SimCity 2000?

How well can a real city planner play SimCity 2000?

Part education lesson in real city planning, part critique of what's wrong with the game. And next time I play I'll remember to stick to 6x6 grids for sure.

This video was made in the middle of 2018 - old by 'wots hot' standards - but it's a great look at what happens when someone who grew up playing SimCity then goes back to the game after becoming an actual, bone fide city planner in his adult life.

You get to watch our planner walk through an actual game and discuss how the game is all about managing tax revenues and expenditures, reminding us that it's amazing the game was ever the smash hit it was.

But for a zen chillout half hour that teaches a lot of cool stuff about how real cities work and how SimCity works differently, it's well worth kicking back and enjoying the show.
