Now there’s a new event out, and in traditional Genshin Impact fashion, it can be a little tricky to get your head around.
The event is called Unreconciled Stars, and it actually has three different phases with their own names, plus a few extra things you can do on top of it.
Firstly, don’t even worry about this unless you’re Adventure Rank 20, as with much of the game this event won’t unlock for you until then.
If you are Adventure Rank 20 then it’s a good idea to get acquainted. This event is a great way to earn a lot of Primogems and level up materials which many players are scraping to get.
Certain characters will also receive pretty huge buffs during the event, so it's good to check this out if you're not sure who you'd want to use. You can find the list in the Event Guidelines tab.
To start the event you’ll need to go have a chat to everyone’s favourite adventure android Katheryne, at the Adventurer’s Guild in Mondstadt. This will give you the starting quest “Unknown Star”. Following the questline and completing this quest will give you access to phase one of the Unreconciled Stars event.
Selecting the event compass icon will show you a screen with the three event stages, the first being Unknown Star.
Going into this will highlight an area on your map where you’ll need to collect meteorite shards. Once you’re at that location, the general area of each shard will have a blue circle on your mini map.
They appear as blue glowing ore and are pretty easy to spot. A character’s vision (coloured orb accessory) will glow when you’re close to help spot them, so equipping someone with a vision you can spot easily from the back helps.
Meteorite will be plentiful in each location and they even seem to respawn. If you can’t find one, move on to another blue area spot.
You only need 7 from each location, so keep an eye on your event compass icon. As soon as it gets a notification, you’ve likely finished collecting in this area. Jump back into the Unknown Star event selection, get your reward, and pick a new place to search.
It’s easy to get stuck searching the same area as there will be plenty of meteorite, but you won’t progress your quest any further after finding 7.
Star of Deceitful Dreams
The second event phase is absurdly called Star of Deceitful Dreams. You’ll need to complete The Crisis Deepens quest which will also teach you how this event works.
They’re a lot like Leylines in that you interact with a large fallen meteorite remains and it will spawn enemies. You can choose the difficulty and earn increasingly better rewards but also like Leylines it will cost resin to actually claim.
The meteorites will give off a random element as well as call in different kinds of enemies, so it’s a good idea to have a well balanced party to deal with all situations. You’ll need to defeat the enemies in a timely manner while staying within the circle to progress and earn the rewards for each meteorite.
In your event menu you can see goals for how many of these you need to complete. To get more markings on your map to plunder you’ll need to talk to Mona who should have been introduced during The Crisis Deepens quest line.
What’s really cool about this is you can do it in a group. Like Leylines, players can join each other's worlds and take on these challenges together and they’re pretty fun to go around smashing with a group of friends.
Star of Destiny
The third phase is called Star of Destiny. To start it, you’ll need to complete the What the Skies Conceal, the Water Reveals questline.
You can travel to a specific area and challenge the Fallen Star. This is another phase that you can do by yourself or in co-op mode.
Defeating monsters will let you build up energy which needs to be submitted to a special zone. You’ll want to fill this energy metre before the time runs out to be successful, but being hit will make you lose whatever you’re carrying at the time.
Definitely one that benefits from having a team of friends to help.
These will cost 40 Original Resin to collect rewards for.
While all these phases are going on, you’ll have a secondary quest list called Meteoric Wave which is also accessible through the Unreconciled Stars quest menu. These are just quick quests you can complete, about twice the length of dailies. They're worth doing for the rewards.
So why bother doing all this? Well again, the rewards are actually pretty decent but they also include a few special event currencies.
Because Genshin Impact really needed more currencies.
These can be spent in the event shop. Currently only the Fading Stars Might section of the shop is available until the next phase unlocks but it’s very worthwhile.
Just by doing the basic quests I managed to earn enough currency to buy almost everything in the shop. This includes those sorely needed level up materials.
This has helped me level up a bunch of my characters which has breathed some fresh life into the game.
So far, I’m really enjoying the Unreconciled Stars. It’s helped break through some stagnation I was starting to feel in Genshin Impact and makes me excited for future events. It’s a great time to jump back in for players who got a bit bored and the rewards feel really worthwhile.
Genshin Impact is still really good, folks. WTF.
